Description

Carbon steel ball valves occupy a critically important position in the global oil, natural gas, chemical, and power industries due to their high strength, excellent high-temperature resistance, and low cost. As core equipment for pipeline isolation and control, the reliability of their materials and the rationality of their design directly affect the safety and efficiency of the entire process flow.

Materials & Standards

The carbon steel ball valves supplied by CHCV are primarily manufactured from A216 WCB material, which is the most commonly used carbon steel casting material under the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standard, suitable for service temperatures ranging from -29°C to 425°C.

Choosing a WCB carbon steel ball valve means you have selected a basic protection layer that offers excellent weldability and sufficient hardness for your system. For low-temperature environments, we also offer LCC or LCB materials to ensure good mechanical performance under extreme conditions as low as -46°C.

Structural Design & Advantages

Depending on different pressure and bore size requirements, our carbon steel floating ball valves are the ideal choice for small to medium bore sizes (typically below 2 inches). The design principle is that the ball is supported by two seats, and the medium pressure pushes the ball against the downstream seat, thereby ensuring tight sealing under low-pressure conditions.

For large-bore or high-pressure applications, we recommend our carbon steel trunnion mounted ball valves. In this design, the ball is fixed by upper and lower stems (i.e., trunnions), while the seats are designed to be floating and spring-loaded.

This structure greatly reduces operating torque and ensures smooth opening and closing even under high differential pressure. Our A216 WCB carbon steel trunnion mounted ball valve strictly complies with the API 6D standard and can be optionally equipped with fire-safe (API 607) and anti-static devices to meet the most stringent long-distance pipeline requirements.

Ball Valve Carbon Steel – Connection Types & Applications

To accommodate complex piping systems, a variety of connection ends are available: for applications requiring high strength and infrequent disassembly, welded ends are the first choice; while our carbon steel flanged ball valve has become the mainstream choice in refineries and pump station piping due to its easy installation and convenient maintenance.

For high-temperature steam pipelines, the carbon steel ball valve for steam requires that the seat and sealing materials possess resistance to high-temperature creep and erosion. Our seats are manufactured with reinforced PTFE or PEEK materials, and the cavity pressure relief design is optimized to effectively prevent abnormal cavity pressure buildup caused by steam condensation, ensuring absolute safety and long service life under 300°C steam conditions.

Quality Assurance

Every ball valve from CHCV undergoes rigorous shell strength tests and sealing tests before leaving the factory. We are fully aware that at critical process points, even a tiny leak could lead to a major accident.

Therefore, from raw material re-inspection to precision machining, and then to assembly and testing, our manufacturing processes fully comply with the ISO 9001 quality management system and API Q1 specifications, ensuring that every valve you receive is a trustworthy industrial guardian.
