4″ Threaded Ball Valve, NPT Threaded Heavy Duty Shut-off Ball Valve

4 inch threaded ball valve with NPT internal thread for quick installation, high pressure resistance, used for oil, gas, water industrial pipeline cut-off control.

Description

The 4‑inch threaded ball valve, sized NPS 4 (DN100), is a medium‑to‑large bore valve with threaded end connections. It leverages the self‑sealing taper thread characteristics of NPT or BSP standards, allowing pipeline assembly without flange bolts or welding. This makes it a common shutoff valve in large‑scale modular industrial systems, widely used in oil and gas transmission, industrial cooling water circuits, gas distribution networks, and pump station auxiliary lines.

The valve body is integrally forged from thickened steel or stainless steel, providing high mechanical strength. Its PTFE/metal composite sealing arrangement ensures bubble‑tight shutoff under soft‑seal conditions, while the metallic secondary seal maintains integrity under elevated pressures. The full‑port flow passage minimises resistance and resists fouling, accommodating diverse media such as wastewater, crude oil, and natural gas.

Core Advantages

  1. Threaded, weld‑free installation – NPT taper threads achieve a tighter seal as they are engaged, eliminating the need for hot work on‑site. Assembly simply requires mating threaded fittings, shortening construction schedules and avoiding fire hazards – particularly beneficial for remote oil/gas sites or prefabricated modular skids.

  2. Robust high‑pressure construction – The forged body offers generous wall thickness to withstand network pressure surges. Threaded joints resist vibration and distortion, maintaining leak‑tight performance even in buried or exposed installations over extended periods.

  3. Upgrade‑ready – An ISO 5211 actuator mounting pad is pre‑machined on the top flange, enabling future addition of pneumatic or electric actuators for remote automated control without replacing the existing valve body – facilitating smart retrofits in oil/gas and water utility networks.

Application Case

The circulating water branch network at the western zone of Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company (Zhenhai District, Ningbo, Zhejiang, China) has extensively adopted the 4″ threaded ball valve. In the open‑pipe‑rack area, threaded connections enabled rapid installation without welding, while the heavy‑duty body withstands pressure spikes from refinery operations. The full‑bore design reduces pumping energy consumption, and the entire system has operated reliably with an extremely low leakage rate over many years.

Quality Assurance & Customisation

Every valve undergoes hydrostatic strength testing, pneumatic leak detection, and non‑destructive examination prior to shipment, and holds API and CE industrial certifications. Customised versions include explosion‑proof gas service models and anti‑corrosion coating options, meeting procurement requirements for oil, gas, and chemical projects worldwide.
